Introduction To All Posts:
Black women’s problems with Black men started in Africa LONG before the arrival of the Arab man and the White man.
Black men have been betraying Black women since BEFORE the White man ever came to Africa. If you haven’t already done so, please read the following 2 posts:
In the wake of Donald Trump’s election last night as the 45th
U.S. President, I’m making an exception and opening the comments to
this post (for the next few days). Because I can see the widespread dismay and
distress this election result has caused for many African-American Black women.
It’s been reported that 94% of Black women voted for Hillary Clinton—while apparently
13% of African-American Black males voted for Trump.
I predicted the election of Donald Trump during the
March 2, 2016 post Dystopia Now, Part 2: Reaping The Whirlwind Of Symbol Over Substance & Lesser Evilism Politics. I said:
Get Ready For The Election of Donald Trump As PresidentAnd finally, there's the Mad Cow American Sheeple Voters—who are totally irrational. Including the growing number of Black ones, like these two fools:
When I first saw a video of these two deranged colored women, I was half-expecting to hear an announcer say, "Live from New York, it's Saturday night!" [the intro to Saturday Night Live at the end of the opening skit].
Personal Victory Has a Codename—It’s Called “Stealth”
On one level, it's been amusing watching the Republican establishment lose control of the ignorant, enraged and now-deranged White American sheeple that they've been pimping for decades. It's been hilarious watching the National Review devote an entire issue to ragging on Trump. It's been downright delicious watching Trump and his right-wing supporters denigrate right-wing Fox News. All three of these entities have spent decades encouraging and exploiting White American sheeple racism for their own purposes. It serves them all right that it's finally blown up in their faces, and the same racist White sheeple have turned on them. It's a mirror image of how the Democratic establishment has been pimping its various captive constituencies for decades. There's a similar anti-establishment resentment among White Democrats. Which is why Hillary Clinton is faced with a serious fight for the nomination instead of the shoo-in coronation that she expected. The difference for AAs is that the bulk of AA sheeple will never turn on the Democratic establishment. They're too afraid to do so (for the reasons discussed above). No other constituency feels as trapped as AAs. Other people feel free to jump ship. Many White and other nonblack Sanders supporters will stay home or even vote for Donald Trump if Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination. All of which is why I believe Donald Trump will be elected the next U.S. President.Like many other Americans, I want the Mexican illegal aliens and other illegal aliens OUT of this country. Like many other Americans, I don't support ANY of the modern-era immigrants who have come to this country—and I would prefer that most of them leave and go home—because their presence here brings NO benefit to me or mine. See the Christian Science Monitor article Americans are losing jobs to a visa program. Can it be fixed? So, yes, it'd be best to get the illegal aliens OUT of this country. But that doesn't mean it makes any sense for me to ignore the rest of Trust Fund Baby Donald Trump's stated policies (the bulk of which I find abhorrent). The experience of voting for Pres. Obama has cured me of voting for the purported “lesser evil.” I will never do that again. Lesser evilism is a large part of what has gotten the AA collective to this politically powerless point. Rabbi Michael Lerner was quite correct about the immorality and long-term effects of lesser evilism in his essay that I republished, The Immorality of Lesser Evilism. These days, I only vote for those candidates that I actively support. As I said in Part 1 of this series of posts, I’m not saying all of the above to scare you. I’m saying this to reiterate the core message of my book and two blogs:You can thrive (and not just survive) during this time of collapse if you GET BACK TO BASICS.Do what you can to position yourself to live well regardless of who is in office.
Today's Get Back To Basics Suggestion—Read the comment section and post titled “Early Retirement Extreme.”
I believe the advice that Bougie Black Girl gave is
wise and prudent (especially the highlighted response she gave to a commenter):
If you are dealing with a tense work environment today, regardless of who you voted for and people ask you about the election, this is what I want you to do.1. Don't argue. If you are a woman of any race, a religious minority, LGBTQ and/or a person of color, people will jump on any arguments you get into to justify their stereotypical views. Don't give them ammunition!2. Don't let this election mess with your money. Take a deep breath and be strategic. Leave the emotionalism behind. Instead think like a politician. Sadly, people see emotionalism is a sign of weakness and immaturity. If you're a woman, we already know this.3. When someone asks you about the election, become a unifying force. Say, "The voters made a decision and I respect their choice. Now is the time to bring our country together." It's short, simple and to the point. Not only that, it is patriotic. Who can resist patriotism?Doing these things displays that you, unlike everyone else, are in control of your emotions. It makes you look mature, above the fray and displays professionalism other coworkers will admire. Be strategic and smart. This is about your quality of life and your ability succeed. Remember you represent your job, business and brand. You will survive. Good luck all.BBG
Get Ready For “After”
As I said during the September 4, 2016 post Dystopia Now, Part 6: Get Ready For “After”:
As I said during the March 17, 2016 post Dystopia Now, Part 3: Surviving & Thriving Are Time-Sensitive:
All sorts of permanent changes away from Business As Usual are in progress. Right now. Will you be ready for the emerging New Normal? They’re not going to bring to your attention the fact that the true maps of various states and coastline areas have been transformed due to climate change. For example, they’re not going to tell you that when you factor in areas that are unavailable due to flooding, the state of Louisiana looks like this compared to the current map:Nevertheless, there will be a time after the biggest changes have come and have become entrenched. There will be a time after homeowners have had to evacuate their homes in various coastal areas for the last time. Because it will finally be clear to local governments and everybody else that it makes no sense to keep rebuilding and repairing homes in areas that will continue to flood each year. There will be a time after local and federal governments stop subsidizing African-Americans’ penchant for out-of-wedlock childbearing. See the post Dystopia Now, Part 5: Brexit Is The Beginning of the End For African-American “Useless Eaters”There will be a time after all social and legal traces of the African-American Civil Rights Movement have been erased. There will be a time after the “AIDS faces” make a comeback. See the posts Dystopia Now, Part 4: Get Away From Atlanta & Keep Your Daughters Away From Historically Black Colleges & Universities and I Agree With Brandy McCarley— If You Value Your Health As A Black Woman, You Will TooThere will be a time after the sudden influx of Mexicans fleeing narco wars and a cartel-induced collapse of the Mexican government. See the post Geostrategy Nerd: What Would Mexico's Sudden Collapse Mean for YOUR Prospects in the U.S.?There will be a time after all of the above. You can position yourself to not only survive the emerging changes but to thrive while these changes become the New Normal. In THIS previous post, I mentioned that preparedness is the next step after the BWE basics (along with various resources to help you prepare).
If you’d like to brainstorm and discuss all of the above, the comment section will be open for the next few days. The ability to thrive—and in some circumstances, the ability to survive at all—are almost always based on time-sensitive information, choices, and most of all, ACTIONS. People who take action early almost always have options that won’t exist later on for the folks who waited to take action. This is a timeless pattern that usually marks the difference between those who live and those who suffer and die during times of turmoil and crisis.I’ve talked about this before in the comment section of various blog posts over the years:. . . But the warning that I'm giving with this post goes beyond Pres. Obama's failings. It's about AAs' overall TOTAL lack of preparation. Most of us are complacent in our Obama-delerium. I'm not going to talk politics at the new site, so this post is one of my last public warnings about these issues.
Throughout history, no matter what the negative event, there have always been the smaller group of people who were relatively safe and comfortable while the masses of their group suffered and often died.
The European Jews who fled various European countries EARLIER in the rise of the German Nazi regime survived. The Bosnians and others who left Yugoslavia EARLY in the civil war fared better than those who hung around long enough to end up in mass graves.
Preparation versus a lack of preparation is what usually separates the two groups. The key to survival is to respond at the first hint of a serious problem. And not wait until the problem is fully developed before you take it seriously. Right now, AAs have lulled themselves into an even deeper coma than usual with the Obama-ssiah delirium. Most of us are in denial, and won't perceive a serious problem brewing until we see the equivalent of a mushroom cloud exploding over our heads.
The AA collective is in a state that is comparable to that of Haiti's physical infrastructure---the foundations of AAs' economic survival are so flimsy and fragile that the slighest disruption will lead to many of us being out in the streets. And unlike the earlier Great Depression, modern AAs DON'T have stable family ties that we can depend on for help in a time of crisis. Especially not during a time of prolonged crisis.
There are some problems looming on the horizon that AAs as a collective are totally unprepared for.
Close-knit, FAMILY-ORIENTED, prepared collectives like the Mormons and the Amish will make it no matter what happens. For those who don't know, the Mormon Church REQUIRES each Mormon household to stockpile a year's supply of food, water, and other essentials. Just in case.
To all who are reading: If you choose not to prepare, and choose not to respond to the warning signals about various situations, rest assured that there WON'T be any particular mercy or concern for you once the "flood waters" rise above your heads.
Think quick: Before the Haiti earthquake, when was the last time YOU thought about the still-suffering people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast? Yeah, that's what I thought.
In the modern-day US where AAs are NO LONGER the largest minority population: Ain't nobody else thinkin' about AAs or our problems!
Do you think Telemundo or the other Spanish-language stations broadcasting in the US will be talking about AAs' problems/concerns? Especially during a prolonged crisis? NO, and neither will the "mainstream" so-called news outlets.
People, Get Ready.
Peace, blessings and solidarity.

Dear Khadija,
Thank you again for sharing your perspective to all of this.
Ladies,
The time is NOW to get your houses in order (whatever that may mean to you). I have been preparing quite some time now and although I am not completely where I would like to me, I am working towards that goal.
I, thankfully, realized long ago that the PTB were never looking out for my interests so I have been looking out for my own. Being self-employed for quite a long time now, I have a profession that can be location independent thanks to technology if necessary and have built a network that enables me to get customers outside of normal channels.
All of this takes time to build and as Khadija and others have been sounding the alarm for quite some time now, for those who treated this as entertainment instead of doing the work to change your outcome,I sincerely hope the results of this election has been YOUR wakeup call to now take the necessary actions to not only survive but thrive in these uncertain times.
I'm in total shock right now! I remember reading your posts on Trump winning the presidency a few months back. I followed polling data too closely and Nate Silver's analysis too heavily. Today attended a post election analysis for my class and today and boy were there some sad faces. The overwhelming facts that I can remember from the talk was: there are BIG winners and there are BIG losers in this Trump presidency, people voted for change over stability, the U.S. is NOT immune to populism (Latin style), and both parties have officially exploded.
My Dad is pushing for me to find a job in government once I finish my degree in International Relations but the way this election turned out I doubt thats a path to go behind. If anything I will attend more local city meetings and find a job there while living at home, saving my money, and then look for a more secure job. On the bright side I have no student loans to worry about.
Colleen,
I humbly suggest you stay away from government jobs at all levels as the U.S. government is effectively bankrupt, most local and state governments are too.
What is your specialty with regards to International Relations? Are you proficient in a second language (preferably a money language like Chinese or German)? Have you joined any networks in your field of interest? Are there people you know doing the type of work that you want to do? Have you begun to find out how they were able to do the type of work they do?
The old paradigms of just finding a job, no longer work in the today's economies, so you will need to think more outside of the box.
I watched apathetically as everyone lost their minds on social media. People wearing black, calling in to work and school sick, posting videos and photos crying etc. Pure foolishness. Time to accelerate on my French lessons and go back to learning Arabic. I'm currently writing a fiction novel to start that passive income stream and I'm going to take some more self defense/gun classes. Also a big thing is to look at birth control ladies and seeing if an IUD or ring is best for you because I KNOW that reproduction will be a BIG issue in the next four years. I've seen a lot of religious AAs saying God has us and is in control; all I can say to their blatant messiah syndrome is that faith without works is dead.
Karen,
You're welcome and thank you for your comment--I 100% co-sign! I hope and pray that some of the readers that have been treating various BW-centric writers' warnings to them as entertainment take this election result as a splash of freezing water and wake up.
Colleen,
As with anything, you know best about what's best for your particular circumstances. Nevertheless, I think your plan to save as much money as possible is a good one. Money gives you choices.
I think it's also good to keep in mind that there are NO truly "secure" jobs these days. There are only jobs that are more or less secure than others. For those who are interested in such matters, I would recommend the 1997 book, The Sovereign Individual, by James Dale Davidson and Lord William Rees-Mogg, in which they predicted much of what has happened. Among other things, they said:
[Otto Ammon, a 19th century German economist] believed that high abilities naturally result in people rising in income and social position. . . . He also believed that the 'true form of the so-called social pyramid is that of a somewhat flat onion or turnip.' . . . Modern industrial societies are indeed all turnips, with a small wealthy and upper-professional class at the top, a larger middle class, and a minority poor at the bottom. Relative to the middle, both the extremes are small.
. . . All of this is intriguing, but the immediate interest of Ammon's work lies in the major long-term shift we are experiencing in the relations, financial and political, between the top and the middle. . . . Most people could master the skills required for operating the machines of the mid-twentieth century, but those jobs have now been replaced by smart machines which, in effect, control themselves. A whole arena of low- and middle-skill employment has already disappeared. If we are correct, this is a prelude to the disappearance of most employment and the reconfiguration of work in the spot market. " pgs. 212-213.
"Societies that have been indoctrinated to expect income equality and high levels of consumption for persons of low or modest skills will face demotivation and insecurity. As the economies of more countries more deeply assimilate information technology, they will see the emergence---so evident already in North America---of a more or less unemployable underclass. [Khadija interrupting the quote here: Guess who this is? You get one guess.] This is exactly what is happening. This will lead to a reaction with a nationalist, antitechnology bias, as we detail in the next chapter.
The Factory Age may prove to have been a unique period in which semistupid machines left a highly profitable niche for unskilled people. Now that the machines can look after themselves, the Information Age is pouring its gifts onto the top 5 percent of Otto Ammon's turnip." pg.214 [emphasis added].
Continuing with the quotes from the 1997 book, The Sovereign Individual, by James Dale Davidson and Lord William Rees-Mogg:
". . . The model business organization of the new information economy may be a movie production company. Such enterprises can be very sophisticated, with budgets of hundreds of millions of dollars. While they are large operations, they are also temporary in nature. . . While the people who work on the production are very talented, they have no expectation that finding work on the project is equivalent to having a 'permanent job.'" The Sovereign Individual, pg. 237.
Well, you were spot on. Quietly observing. Bad girls move in silence.
Jade,
You said, "I've seen a lot of religious AAs saying God has us and is in control; all I can say to their blatant messiah syndrome is that faith without works is dead."
Whoomp---there it is!
Spinster,
Yep. Silence is often golden. {smile}
The best defence for these times is common sense and not emotionalism. Get your personal economy in order. Get debt free and have an emergency fund of at least one year's living expenses. DON'T TALK YOUR WALLET! That way people are not in your face depleting your resources.
If you think preppers are nuts then you have my prayers, they will get through these times better than most. Make sure you stockpile the goods that you need to stay alive, safe and comfortable. Learn the skills you need in order to be self sufficient.
If you do not do anything get out of majority black places and spaces. There is a storm headed our way and if you do not want to be chum for the two legged predators that inhabit most majority black communities you need to move.
Finally if you do not have a passport and a plan to relocate out of the USA then I would suggest strongly they you do both. You may not need either now but you should be ready.
You are truly on your own, there is no cavalry or savior coming.
First things first, I would like to thank you for the amazing resources you've provided with your two sites and book(which I've read and reread). I'm still young and I'm so glad that I found this message before I became too mired in destructive thinking.
I'll second the encouragement to get an IUD. If you get the copper one it last for 10 years and if need be you can remove it yourself (you just pull firmly and slowly and it folds in on itself and comes out.) If you don't want to get pregnant, take things seriously. Be celibate, use multiple forms of protection. This isn't the time for an unplanned pregnancy (not that there's ever a good time for one).
Also, distance yourself from anyone advocating for violence. I've seen people on social media saying stuff that could get them arrested and I don't want to be attached to any of them. Unfollow, Unfriend, Block, shut down your whole profile, whatever you need to just get away from them.
I'm mainly going to keep my mouth shut about politics around co workers and strangers. It can only cause conflict to bring it up.
I see a lot of black people blaming this only on "white" voters lol while still failing to realize that the emerging whites i.e Latino and Asian voters (albeit on a smaller scale) also told them they don't mind Trump's message even if on the surface it looked like it was against their interest to support him.
To Colleen
I majored in IR in college as well and graduated 1 year ago. If you want to pursue this field professionally I would STRONGLY suggest the importance of Networking on campus (go to every campus job fairs, ask professors in the IR department if they've heard about internship and job opportunites) in order to find a job. Unless you live in the DMV(d.c,va,md) area and even then IR is a tough field to break into unless you don't mind low level work at non-profits that pay poorly. Also, the state department have internships that you can actually do remotely(virtually) to boost your experience on your resume if you're not close on graduating. They advertise for it every year so check their website.
Indeed.
Thank you so much for putting out this post this is exactly what I needed to see and put into my mind. I needed this advice about what to do on the job when they ask me about the election so again thank you. I have to protect myself on the job. Thankfully I started up North in my county and those are the schools they really take care of in this district. I can't help but worry about the future though and what will happen when BM get that gotcha from the Trump admin. I sincerely hope that BW stay out of it and just watch out for themselves we don't need to get in the way of that and we also don't need to gain their attention. That is one of the main things I worry about after this election some BW are quick to jump on the frontlines for men that don't care about us and that really needs to stop. We don't need the extra attention during what I'm sure will be a tough time for all. So again thank you for your post and for the great advice and I will be putting mind and personal affairs in order immediately.
Arrived to campus this morning, and majority of students were not present. My instructor cancel class today. Black women young, and old needed to stay out of the coming storm. I have always maintain a pantry, and practice frugality. Staying low under the radar.
I also think that religion has given them a false sense of security. I hear them saying don't worry God has us like he always did.
Thanks for this post Khadija, and the space to brainstorm.
It's important to know how to manage your thoughts and emotions in difficult situations, and not underestimate their impact, as having a meltdown can make a bad situation worse. Especially if you struggle with any anxiety or emotional issues, but even if you don't, learning some tools like cognitive behavioral therapy could come in handy in a pinch. Professional counseling/therapy is a great investment.
I once saw a newbie hunter break down crying once it was time to pull the trigger, even though she had ambitious plans to live completely off the grid, and had learned quite a bit about it. She didn't expect to feel as sad/shaken as she did, but in a real 'apocalypse' scenario, it could have been her last chance to avoid starvation. You just never know when strong emotions might flare up unexpectedly, and it's good to have a plan. Long stretches of boredom can take their toll also. A lot of us rural, survivalist types have technical skills and experience, but emotionally we still have the comfort of knowing that there is a legal/logistical infrastructure 'out there' if things go seriously wrong. How many people are ready for the psychological impact of a real Wild West scenario where people are disconnected from the web, telephone, outside world, etc, and they have to rely on tenuous social contracts and norms, rather than "law and order"?
Also, once I made up my mind to always find a way to survive and thrive despite unfairness or outright betrayal/deceit,it freed up a lot of space in my brain to find creative solutions. It freed up my physical energy for action rather than worrying or fretting pointlessly.
Firstly, thank you Khadija for truly being a light and a beacon of rational thought to your sisters. I have learned, grown, matured, pondered, changed and reformed by reading your essays. I thank God that I found you and others who are championing the cause of Black women by positively influencing one mind at a time.
I think all the comments here are great because they are about preparation, planning and strategizing. I am doing all three with a calm and clear mind. I understand why this happened and I see my position within the sphere of this shifting socio-political sand.
I would just reiterate what has already been said. The best position for a black woman now is above the fray, sans opinion, moving in silence with a 360 degrees of awareness and observation. We CAN and WILL survive 4 years of a President Trump.
Denise, poweredbyjoy, and Anonymous at 7:21 PM,
You're welcome! And thank YOU; I've learned a LOT over the years from comments by savvy readers.
poweredbyjoy,
Yes, one needs to rehearse as close as possible to the real deal. In whatever the context might be. Your comment reminded me of a resource prepper readers may be interested in. It's a blog by a guy named Selco-- who survived the horrors of the 1990s Balkans wars(that got very, VERY ugly in the former Yugoslavia--shudder).
This guest post at his blog talks about developing the right mindset to deal faster with changes.
Thanks for these links.
Khadija thank you so much for all your pearls of wisdom they have really helped me over the years!!!
I live in a development and my family is the only black family here, matter of fact truthfully speaking I am the only black person here. Outside of the development is a cracker white town and some of the poorest inhabitants, some of who have seen me drive into my development of new construction homes and are probably thinking how the hell does she live there?! I seriously think it's time for us to relocate, but where? Most of my neighbors hunt and teach their kids to hunt so they know their way around a gun pretty well. I think it's time I did too. Truth is I know Blackistan isn't safe but I'n not sure it's that safe here now either.
Elise,
You're welcome!

Since the point of this post is to "talk shop," I'll drop the "you know what's best for you, etc." beating around the bush talk. If you don't feel safe where you are, chances are you're probably *not.* That degree of racial isolation is usually not safe in the U.S. context. Especially during an age of economic collapse. It sounds like you might be looking like a "rich Jew---the only one in the area" living among a bunch of resentful "German peasants." That's not a good look. . .
You said, "Most of my neighbors hunt and teach their kids to hunt so they know their way around a gun pretty well. I think it's time I did too. Truth is I know Blackistan isn't safe but I'n not sure it's that safe here now either."
I would suggest that you start looking for a more racially diverse area. One that has been stable in terms of its racial diversity for longer than a minute. One doesn't want to relocate to an area that's in the process of White flight. [Obviously, Blackistan is out of the question in terms of personal safety.]
I feel like I'm the only black woman in america who isn't shocked by these results. Thank you khadija for opening up your platform to us. I hope this is a wake up call for many black women that the government does not have your back and never has. Self reliance is key. This is more motivation for me to start my second business. At work I just nodded my head with a concerned look when asked about the election. It seems like there is a lack of affordable diverse housing in the states. I live in NYC in a gentrifying neighborhood and so many people are being priced out. I'm working to not be one of those people.
I will be candid here. Elise. I moved from a major city to a small town. The demographics are much poorer that my own circumstances however we do not flash our wealth that is just not us anyway. Wwe also picked a racially diverse area but made sure that the AA population was well under 20 persent.
There is a mix of whites, latinos with AA being in the number three category. If you are uncomfortable where you are that relocating is a good idea just be mindful about the racial makeup of where you are deciding to move.
For people who are urban apartment dwellers, it is possible to learn survival skills by participating in community gardens and joining tool libraries. Tool libraries teach people woodworking, metalsmithing, sewing, etc. and also allow people to rent equipment and space to work on their own projects.
cattusbabe,

That sounds to me like a good mix in terms of demographics. THANK YOU for your candid response to Elise. We all need REAL TALK when discussing these types of issues.

Wanderlust, I have noticed this nonsense too. People on my facebook and other social media platforms were basically all having public emotional breakdowns. I was constantly getting feed after feed, comment after comment. I didn't engage one single bit. Not a single comment, like, reply etc. What was worst though was the idiotic analysis most black people (mainly black women) were giving. Blaming it purely on white male patriarchy and saying everyone who was not a 'cis straight white male' was let down. I'm sat there thinking "ummm, have you not seen how different demographics voted?" The Latino vote was significantly up from 2012. The presumption was that this would hand Hillary the election. I even heard some networks pre-election eve saying that this will be 'the year of the Hispanic'. I am actually suspecting that majority of the new hispanic voters went for Trump and not Clinton. Also there were whites who have NEVER voted in ANY election that decided to come out and vote this time. Majority of white women voted for Trump.
If I am being honest, I believed Trump would win, I just didn't expect it to be by such a clear margin.
If bw like, they shouldn't wake up and smell the coffee.
On a side note, I have noticed in the past year or so, many white feminists who were so dismissive of intersectionality, begin talking about it as well as 'misogynoir'. So many bw were fooled by this lip service. It was just in a hope to get bw to come out for Hillary. Turns out, that Hillary had not even secured the ww vote. I can't decide if bw are just blind or wilfully being stupid.
This is why I believe that one should set their affairs up to ensure that they benefit IRRESEPECTIVE of who is in power/office.
Thank you Kadija for your words of wisdom! I believed that Trump would get elected when I heard people dismiss him as a wacko jacko who would never become President of the U.S. My home is paid off--I left Blackistan long ago and live in a predominantly, white, affluent town. I have been taught how to shoot firearms by my local police department. I made sure to get in the good graces of the popo because as an unprotected AA female, there may come a day when I will need their protection. Having traveled abroad extensively, I feel comfortable and adapt easily into different cultures. I also have experience teaching abroad at international schools, and have maintained contact with administrators who are in a position to offer me international employment if I choose to pursue that route again in the future. My preference is to retire from my current teaching job in the next few years, and then become a sovereign female--living off of my retirement and traveling the world; but there are no guarantees. Ideally, I would like to obtain a second passport so that if the fit hit the shan, here in the U.S., it would be easy for me to relocate somewhere that offers more security.
Travel Diva,
You're welcome!
Khadijah thank you so so so much for your wisdom. Thanks to you I saved 30% of my income, have two guns, Children and I have been survival prepping non-stop. Black women need to prepare to be moved off of welfare, removed and furloughed from federal jobs and gentrified out of all public housing. I hope these women can link up with their families and other single mothers in order to avoid early death. Young black women MUST be vigilant with their wombs and abstain from ALL pregnancies unless married or with a man with means. These are trying times but I am prepared to take on the world.

You're welcome!
Not surprised we and bm voted for there self interest be need to wake up it is 2016 and we have bm on tv whining and crying about Jim Crow and slavery well if you were so scared of those things what have your done to prevent hat from happening again nothing just depend on white liberal sympathy it is time for bw to wake up and do for self put our interest first make sure
You are able to provide for yourself if anything happens savings passport stockpile of food several sources of income
And yes a permit
To carry just in case we go to slavery as the weak bm on tv say cause you know they will not protect us lol we have to ourselves I get so tired of bm protraying weakness all the time to the world
Formavitae,
I believe the U.S. Still offers MANY opportunities for AAs, and AA women are in a good position to BENEFIT, if they make WISE CHOICES.
I, personally, love the United States and am thinking of ways to create the quality of life and future that I want for my family here. However, I realize there may come a time when I may think it's best TO LEAVE. I also plan to raise my future children with the mindset of being "global residents", because I don't know what the future holds for the world, but I suspect it will be VERY DIFFERENT from what we've had in the past, and even what we have TODAY. For myself, I am working on obtaining skills, education, and work experience that would prove to be valuable in ANY country or society. Now, the level of compensation I receive may vary between countries and societies, but my professional experience in healthcare can be utilized across societies. Now, whether or not a country is willing to hire "an outsider" is ANOTHER factor with which I will have to contend, should I ever decide to leave this country. So, I will have to bear that in mind.
If any AA woman/girl is unhappy with or fearful of the state in which the United States IS or IS HEADED, I encourage them to start ACTIVELY investigating other countries and societies in which they think they may be interested in living. They can then begin taking the necessary steps to prepare themselves and develop the necessary tools (whether learning a new language, earning a specific degree, establing a certain amount of economic wealth) to increase their chances of gaining access to those places.
My desire is to see AA women/girls HAPPY AND FULFILLED. What that looks like for each individual will vary. SOME people will be happy/successful in the United States. SOME WILL NOT. It's best to know and understand YOURSELF, so that you can select the best moves and choices for your own life. I WILL say that "keeping a clean record" is important in minimizing your loss of options around the world. NO SOCIETY wants to take on SOMEONE ELSE'S "problems". So, keep your name and image "UNTARNISHED" (IOW, stay away from "movements", "protests", "political actions", etc. that would place you into the category of "troublemaker ").
As an aside, today, I saw a news line that said Pakistan deports green-eyed Afghan girl because they learned she was in the country illegally.
SEE...OTHER societies take their boundaries and laws SERIOUSLY.
Hi Khadija
Thanks for all you do and thanks for opening the comments board.
Currently there's a horde of election protesters outside of San Francisco City Hall, chopters and everything and yesterday thousands of them tied up traffic on Market street. WHY? What's done is done.
I've lived through the Regan era and did OK! Trump will be a deep breath, a gasp, a passing moment in history, albeit, one of the most outrageous political upsets in American history.
BW can't afford to be such loose cannons and blabbermouths after all they make it their biz to let everyone know how unprotected they are. Being unprotected most don't have any men to stand side by side with them to help with the most basic of needs. On social media they're doing too much saying too much being the attack dog, as usual.
BW need to focus on their kids and paying the bills, as most are single mothers being challenged. BW need to keep losing the weight and going to the therapist. Fill your pantry, clean your house, watch who's around your kids. None of that has anything to do with Trump!
Hi Khadija
Glad to post here today. I am a BW and yes I figured Trump would win. This election was a mirror image to 2008, when Obama won. Many white people who had not voted since Reagan voted in this election. Some people talk about leaving the country, but remember that when the stuff hits the fan in the USA, the rest of the world feels it, and might blame YOU as an American, even if you didn't vote for Trump.
BW need to be debt free, stop spending money foolishly. One of my best friends, who died last week from a long illness, had a blog called "The Cheapest Woman Alive Tells All" I believe her blog is still up, read it and study it. She gives a lot of practical advice as to how to live well but not spend so much money.
Oh, and stay off social media, which isn't hard when you have something to do.
Just want to say that I'm guilty. Guilty of underestimating Trump and the support he has. Even though I underestimated him, I still took time to prepare for whatever and will continue to do so. I'm not sure which direction I'm going to go (whether it's remaining in a blue state or overseas) but I'm going somewhere. I'm not going to do a knee-jerk move but I'm taking the rest of this time to do my homework about various places to live, build up my financial resources, get the passports for me and mine, etc. Also, I'm staying anonymous online.
Hi Kadija:
Thanks for once again lending your insight to this important topic. While most AA women are reacting emotionally, SMART AA females are looking for ways to survive and thrive in this new normal. White people, and White women particularly, showed the masses that they will do anything to protect their privilege. They voted against another White woman to maintain their place. I shall, in turn, continue to navigate my environment with stealthy femininity and charm so that I can continue to live well.
It will be interesting to see how everything pans out in the months and years to come. Uneducated Whites lament the loss of their jobs due to globalization. They hope that Trump will bring their jobs back. However, they are not considering the rise of Asia in general and China in particular. The United States is no longer the number one economy in the world. China, with it's 1.3 billion people, has fueled a juggernaut of economic growth and they naturally use their power to leverage their agenda. Therefore, as has been stated here many times, visionary AA women need to read the tea leaves and find ways to capitalize (literally and figuratively) on this new world order. Trump's win has not stopped the future of globalization -- it has only ensured that it will not have an American face. That is how the American Century comes to an end. Not with a bang, but with a Jerry Springer episode.

Lady Arabella Victoria
Mrs. Lefrak,
Hey, Dee Dee! {excited waving} You're welcome, and thank YOU for all that YOU do!
I also don't understand these protesters. The election is done and over with. Pres.-elect Trump is meeting with Pres. Obama at the White House now.
{rhetorical question} What it the point (if any) of these protests? That is, other than getting arrested---thereby creating an arrest record---thereby reducing one's chances at finding/maintaining a job---thereby also reducing one's options for foreign travel and relocation, etc.
As you've repeated warned BW, similar negative consequences are created by all the online blabbing, cursing and all-around spazzing too many of them do. My prayer is for more BW to just shut up about controversial issues.
You said, "BW need to focus on their kids and paying the bills, as most are single mothers being challenged. BW need to keep losing the weight and going to the therapist. Fill your pantry, clean your house, watch who's around your kids. None of that has anything to do with Trump!"
I 1,000% co-sign!
littleeva,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll take a look at your friend's blog; it sounds helpful. Thanks for mentioning it.
LorMarie,
I feel that a large part of why so many people were shocked by the election results is due to the corrupt, corporate American "mainstream" media. The mainstream media was lazy and incurious in their choice to rely on polls. [As if it's never occurred to them that people lie to pollsters.] They and their skewed polls made it sound as if Hillary Clinton was a shoo-in.
I count this episode as yet another major incident in which the vast majority of the modern American corporate media (the so-called "fourth estate") has FAILED in its self-proclaimed duty to democracy. Their mass refusal to fact-check any of the "spin" and lies used by the George W. Bush regime to get the U.S. into the Iraq War was another major failure that cost the people of this country. They didn't question or investigate anything--they basically acted as stenographers for the Bush Administration. Plenty of American blood and money was squandered as the result of that failure.
Without getting too far into my standard rant about the corrupt corporate media, I'll simply say that it's impossible to have a functioning democracy without an informed public. [Whether the American public actually wants to be informed--and not just entertained--is a separate issue.]
Her blog still exists; some very good ideas here.

Lady Arabella Victoria,
You're welcome! And thanks for the article link; I'll check it out.

I can agree that China is (and probably will continue to be for some time) the world's largest economy. But I'm not sure what this will mean in qualitative terms. Being the numerically largest economy does not mean that the Chinese empire will be a wealthy empire in which its subjects enjoy a baseline standard of living comparable to the current American baseline. Being the #1 economy on a "3rd world planet" in which ALL countries are poor compared to the current day norms in the industrialized West (to borrow the vision of across-the-board global poverty from Matt Damon's movie Elysium) is very different from living the American Century.
Offhand, I can't remember the names of the books I read about 5 years ago about Chinese strategic issues, but I remember being left with the impression that Chinese rulers have their own serious issues to contend with. Such as ruling over various minority ethnic groups that never asked to join the Chinese empire, and don't want to be part of such. Problem include the ongoing tensions that have led to repeated mass stabbing attacks against Han Chinese by members of the Uyghur minority ethnic group; separatism by other non-Uyghur Muslim minority ethnic groups; Tibetan separatism; social turmoil created by the mass relocation of rural peasants to the cities; etc.
Anyhoo, I would be pleasantly surprised if those American jobs lost through globalization come back. I just don't see that happening for the reasons you mentioned in your comment.
I also believe that certain problems (like job losses due to automation, and climate change-induced disasters) are already "baked into the cake" in the U.S. and can't be solved by any politician. The time for solving or significantly mitigating these problems was 30-35 years ago. The American sheeple made (and continue to make) choices that compound these problems. It is what it is.
I personally do not believe that Trump had any real intention of actually winning this election. He was looking for some attention and publicity for his various businesses; the political right decided to use him as an attack dog (whom they could hide behind) against Obama; the left (along with the foolish media), decided to pretty much goad him into declaring his candidacy (something he was clearly reluctant to do), and he, due to his ego, called their bluff. From the e-mail leaks, it turns out that the media (in cohorts with the Clinton campaign), did everything in their power to ensure he was the nominee, because they thought he would be the easiest to beat, as a Trump victory seemed so unlikely. Well...... there you go.
I heard in his victory speech after he won, where he said (to reach out to others), that he would welcome all their advice. I truly believe that this was an honest statement. My feelings on this were confirmed when I watched the footage of the press pool after his meeting with Obama. That was not the body language of a man who had just won a bitter general election. That was a man who realised he had no clue what he was doing. That meeting between the current president and president-elect tends to last anywhere between 10 to 20 minutes. This one lasted 1 and a half hours, and was only ended because they had to. The demeanour he had when speaking to Obama was in stark contrast to the noise-making buffoon who has been parading around the media for almost the entirety of Obama's administration. Before they left, he said something to the effect of he looks forward to continuing to speak to Obama when he becomes president and to get his 'counsel'. This from someone who frequently labelled Obama the worst president in history. Frankly, I believe that after he saw the shady stuff that went on during the Dem primaries, he assumed he would get his 'out', i.e, a way to explain away his election loss as a result of tptb rigging the general election. Unfortunately for him, he only went and won the whole thing.
I doubt he is going to do any of the most controversial of the things he claimed (building a wall or some other semblance of a strong action against illegals, actually dealing with these terrorists properly, etc), which is a shame, because those were the the very things which I thought that if nothing else, at least that would be a positive outcome of Trumps win. But as it's become clear to me that his entire campaign was a farce from the start, with him having no desire or intention of actually winning the presidency, I believe most of the policies he will embark on will be those that appeal to the knuckle dragging contingent of his supporters, who are also the most vocal and ready to explode. Consequently, these are the sorts of policies that will not do too much good for most Black folks, seeing as most of them are on the much lower end on the socio-economic scale.
Another possible advantage of a Trump presidency, specifically as regards BW in this instance, is the possible law and order crack down. Funnily enough, that was something that was cited as a reason for AAs to fear Trumps victory, but if AA women play this correctly, it could actually turn out well. Having someone who isn't afraid to come down hard on black male criminality is not a bad thing. Having someone who will not be eager to release all sorts of assortment of felons, via a pardon, back into black communities is not a bad thing. Having someone that the BLM crew will be far more fearful of, and hence, be less willing to risk engaging in stupid behaviour with the police, rioting over any slight thing, etc, is not necessarily a bad thing (look how unwilling any of them were to storm the stage when he was campaigning, the way they did with the Dem candidates and even other Republicans, especially after he stated that he felt sorry for Sanders when he saw those two BW pretty much disrupt his speech and snatch the microphone from his hand. Trump pretty much dared anyone to try it with him, and not surprisingly, I saw a handful of BM online saying that these BW should. Note that they didn't tell other bm blm'ers to do it. Fortunately, those bw had the brief period of common sense affliction to not call Trumps bluff in this instance, partly, I suspect, after seeing the footage from early on in his campaign of some violence at his rallies, and him even encouraging his supporters to 'punch the protesters', smh!).
With regards to 'secure jobs', I'm surprised that anyone still thinks such a thing exists. By all means, get that government job and get your paycheck, as it is still an income, but always, and I mean ALWAYS, have an alternative, ongoing, preferably location-independent income stream. This also applies to anyone intending to 'live off' their retirement. If it is in the form of some company or the government, etc paying you a pension, or your 401k, or other more conventional forms of retirement income, etc, it would also be a good idea to develop a side income stream. Things can mess up any day. Companies go bankrupt. So do governments. Whatever your pension fund has invested in can go bust, etc. Always have a side hustle. Even if it is as little as $50 - $100 extra dollars a week, saving that up (i.e, as it is not currently your 'main' source of income, so you are not necessarily taking any money out of it), that can add up to quite a bit over some time.
I think that this election result had far less to do with outright racism, and more to do with yt folks wanting to maintain whatever form of privilege they have. Take note that Trump won every, single, demographic of white voters, except college educated white females; and he still won about 45% of that demographic, which is still pretty close to half of them. It is high time that BW take note of the fact that all their fellow SJW (social justice warriors), when it came down to it, had zero interest in anything that would tinker with whatever privileges they still have in society. Stop fighting for, or against whatever enemy others tell you to, and start focusing on getting your, and strengthening your interests!

I also watched that press pool news clip, and made similar observations about Trump's body language and comportment. Nevertheless, I'm not optimistic about Trump. I think that people in general/the media/Trump supporters have been looking for any shred of sober-seeming behavior from Trump to reassure themselves that he's not another Mussolini. Trump is a 70-year old man who has grave and downright dangerous personality and character flaws. I doubt that he's going to change his lifelong behavior pattern simply because his finger will be on the nuclear button.

HEAR, HEAR!!
Thank you for this post Khadija, and for your continued efforts and sharing of your knowledge, wisdom, and time! It's very much appreciated!
Great tips from Bougie Black Girl! Stealth/moving in silence isn't just some quality but it's an advanced life skill! Stealth is actually how Trump won! There were millions of stealth conservatives/Trump supporters out there who smiled in our faces, worked alongside us, probably even said, "oh no, I'd never vote for him," but they heard his dog whistles and secretly cast their ballots for him.
Black women, moving forward, stealth will be the ONLY winning game for us. Be mad, but don't let the haters see it and use that anger to your advantage to position yourself. Don't forget self-care. Self-care will be the preventative medicine and mental protection we need from the onslaught of foolery that is sure to come. If you haven't taken up self-care practices by now, get in the habit!
If you haven't stopped carrying water for others (black men, white women, Hispanics, LGBT, aliens) prior to this point, just STOP IT! Right now! No grand proclamations or posturing, just stop it!
At the same time, don't be insular. That's probably what our instincts tell us, but that's the exact opposite of what we should do. It's time to put that butterfilia charm that Evia discussed so much on her blog and butterfilia series to good use. If you aren't making your presence known and felt in your community, get out and do so! Mingle and methodically make friends and allies only with those who are reciprocal as you grab every opportunity that you can, even if you have to covertly knock the "others" I mentioned above who aren't reciprocal and who've far too long conveniently stepped over us to get what they need out of the way to get said opportunities.
I'm not telling you to be spiteful (maybe just a little, albeit slyly), conniving, or evil, but everybody else is already showing how self-serving they plan to be for preservation sake, and it's time for black women to draw their lines in the sand.
As someone said above, don't talk your wallet! Don't make yourself a target! These are not times to be flashy, even if you can afford to flash. In lean times, it's smart to curb spending not only because that money would be better saved, but we want to survive silently to keep hating black men and racist co-workers, neighbors, strangers off of our trail.
I recall Khadija commenting how some black people in her area were chattering that she couldn't possibly be a lawyer because she didn't drive an exotic or luxury car, yet she didn't mind them having this perception because it made her less of a target to these people. This is the right mindset you absolutely want in lean times!
Time will be one of our greatest currencies moving forward. Please use it wisely! In times like the ones that are ahead of us, people always demand the most of the most resourceful yet vulnerable--black women. They are coming for us to do more work, to carry more water, to support (mentally, physically, financially) their survival, which is why all the above mentioned points are so important. Focus your time on your self-care, on your well-being, on your finances NOW because our time and attention is something that everyone will be fighting for and darn near demanding when the hammer falls.
One last thing, if you know anyone who is in BLM or BLM adjacent, cut ties with them NOW! There are already seeds being planted to tie BLM with terror groups. Black people likely become the face of terrorism in America, and you don't want to be near anyone who has ties to BLM or similar groups.
@JaliliMaster YES! His posture and body language were so weird. Certainly not that of a man who was so sure that he was right for the job. I think it's finally hit him that he has no clue what he's doing, and the nerve of him to even think he has the right to seek Obama's counsel and advice on the presidency.
However, I too am not too optimistic about anything coming down the pipeline from Trump. Even if he checks out mentally, his cabinet, which he plans to fill with all sorts of hacks, will carry on with their own destructive plans.
Khadija thanks for opening the post for comment. I love your page and like many others have read and re-read your book. I've also recommended to friends.
cattusbabe mentioned that we need to stay away from all black places and spaces. I agree and I think that this especially applies to all black churches. Especially those that have ministers who are heavily involved in "social justice" movements like BLM, etc. People are sitting ducks during church services and I really think there will be more Mother Bethel's in the coming months/years.
KimP,
You're welcome!
I 1,000% co-sign your comments. I don't want to repeat everything you've said, but I will highlight a couple of the excellent points you made.
You said, "I recall Khadija commenting how some black people in her area were chattering that she couldn't possibly be a lawyer because she didn't drive an exotic or luxury car, yet she didn't mind them having this perception because it made her less of a target to these people. I'm tickled that you remember that car incident. Well, here's the unfortunate reverse of it: one of my best friends (who is also a BW attorney) drives a sleek, beautiful luxury car. Her car needs its own epic theme song. In a better world, it would be safe for a BW to tool around in something like that. In the real world, it's *not.* That car invites acts of aggression. Keeping in mind that she and her WM partner live in an affluent majority White neighborhood surrounded by other yuppies, haters scratched patterns into the finish of her car! There was also the time when haters snatched the iconic hood ornament off her car.
She has also told me about the random hostile facial expressions she gets from other drivers [mostly White, but also others] in traffic when they realize there's a BW behind the wheel of that beautiful luxury car. I hope she gets something more discreet the next time she buys a car. It is what it is.
You said, "One last thing, if you know anyone who is in BLM or BLM adjacent, cut ties with them NOW! There are already seeds being planted to tie BLM with terror groups. ^^^^THIS RIGHT HERE! Any BW who values her life needs to cut ALL ties with anybody in BLM and BLM-related groups ASAP.
Another reason/incentive to stay away from BLM:
http://bossip.com/1375398/dallas-father-sues-blm-for-550-million-after-anti-police-sniper-micah-johnson-fatally-shot-son/
I HONESTLY hope this is enough to "shut them up" and make them "go away" for a while.
JaliliMaster,
I respect your opinion, but I must say I believe Trump REALLY DID want to win the Presidency, and the Republican Party, IN GENERAL, DID NOT want him for a representative. They tried to sabotage him in a variety of ways, since the primaries. And, they were even RELUCTANT to utilize their "political machine" for his support. They wanted him OUT. And, I believe the PRIMARY reason they didn't select someone DIFFERENT is because they were afraid of angering and LOSING their constituency.
I, too, am looking forward to Trump "cracking down" on criminal elements. The black community could use a "CLEAN UP". And, HOPEFULLY, this will result in fewer innocent lives being taken on the streets.
Kelli Girl
You're welcome and thank YOU for your support!
I am not so surprised by the results of Tuesday's election. I went to school and work like any other day. Co-workers and students did not have much to say about it. The ones that did, I just listened passively. I'm not getting into a debate with anyone about politics or religion now. It's too dangerous. I was active about 6 years ago in the BWE movement online. Just a brief update: I went to Sweden and China for work. I can speak Chinese fluently. I am currently studying French and Spanish. I tutor college students in Chinese and English at the local community college. I want to use my language skills in business or a government position.
Trump can talk all he wants about China, they aren't going to stop what they are doing. I am preparing for my next laoban(boss) in America. My advice is to learn a money language well and put it on your resume.
For the past two years, I have lurked and read many of the posts on your blog. I love your blog posts and have learned alot from reading them. When I heard about Donald Trump's victory, I automatically thought about the posts you created. Everything that you wrote about has come to pass and it is intriguing to know that you gave Black women such great advice to navigate the changing political regime from Obama to Trump. Though I am disgusted by the election results of Donald Trump's victory, I will take using stealth as a way to live well and survive as a young, Black woman.
sistrunkqueen,
THAT'S AWESOME!
Did you enjoy your work experiences in both countries?
And, NO. The Chinese government WILL NOT stop doing what it WANTS TO DO.
EXCELLENT SKILLS, girl!
Maybe all of these reality TV shows that focus on ratchet behavior will go the way of the Dodo bird.
Also, THANK YOU Khadija and the early women of BWE for giving your time, effort and energy to encourage the rest of us to be better critical thinkers and proactive doers.
I want you to know what a blessing this blog has been to me. You are one of the ones who has inspired me to get ready for the coming storm. I have no debt. I have at least 3 months of income saved up (not nearly enough but still working on it) and an emergency fund per Dave Ramsey's request (please read his books if you haven't). I want to be build up to about 2 years or more worth of living expenses because my sister was out of a job for 2 years and that really made me take notice of how hard it can be to find work.
I've also been inspired to start writing Kindle books and I have one that will come out soon and I will start working on another this weekend. I will start a blog that will talk about touch on the things that you talk about here but it will be in stealth mode bc sometimes you have to ease people into stuff or they get too scared and block out your words. So instead of a post saying "you need to have a bug out bag your in car to be prepared for disasters" it would say something like "if you put this cute car organizer in your car with these items you would be prepared for anything".
I'm also working on learning languages. I never thought about a money language as someone earlier said. That's a great idea. I did think of learning Mandarin but not German as a money language but it definitely is.
Another small tips is this: besides having certain items in your car (like a blanket, water, food, bookbag, sturdy shoes, books, a bible, maps of your local aread etc.),never have your gas tank less than half full. I really don't like it that empty but no less than half because you want to be able to get out of your surroundings at a moment's notice if need be. You do not want to be needing gas during an emergency. This wasn't even an emergency but I remember a while back when there was an oil spill and gas stations were running low on gas and it took me over 30 minutes to fill my tank with gas. And the lines were crazy. Now nothing bad happened and everyone was talking and being nice but imagine if there was some kind of issue going on. You don't want to be one of the ones unprepared and needing to get gas in an emergency situation. Just a suggestion.
It's also a good idea to think about ways to get out of your city that aren't in the interstate. Get to know the back roads. You never know when you will need them.
Blk women must avoid free loaders including those in our families. Now is the time to bond closer to those who have had our backs in the past as well as those who have hard skills like repair people, gardners, roofers etc who are neighbors and acquaintances.
Make sure you're sending out those Christmas cards for these types of folks. You want to endear them to you before you actually need their help.

P.S. If you don't know how to ride a bike, please learn how to do so. Also look into carpooling groups in your area.

Coca Sista,
Thanks so much for your kind words about my blog; I truly appreciate it.
Wanderlust Chick,
You're welcome!
Bobbi,
Thanks so much for your kind words about my blog; I truly appreciate it. You said, "So instead of a post saying "you need to have a bug out bag your in car to be prepared for disasters" it would say something like "if you put this cute car organizer in your car with these items you would be prepared for anything". "Cute car organizer"---I like that--LOL! Yes, there are ways of making unpalatable truths easier for the masses to digest. {smile}
You said,"I'm also working on learning languages. I never thought about a money language as someone earlier said. That's a great idea. I did think of learning Mandarin but not German as a money language but it definitely is."
About money languages and other specific strategic thriving tips, there was a detailed discussion about that, along with much helpful feedback, in the Feb. 2009 post Geostrategy Nerd: An Extended Reader's Money Quote From Beverly.
I would strongly urge the audience to read this post and its comment section. Because most African-Americans are operating under some myths that will sabotage any and all surviving and thriving efforts. Cont'd.
Part 2
I hope that the percentages of White women AND Latinos who voted for Trump will dispel the deadly myth that such persons are BW's "allies." Well, there are some related "poison kool-aid" assumptions about the value of learning Spanish that too many African-Americans (AAs) have swallowed. I made the following comment during the above-referenced blog post:
"Khadija said...
Greetings, Anonymous!
Oh...I'm not knocking Spanish. It's just that this "learn Spanish to increase your employability" hype is yet another example of how things almost NEVER work "as advertised" when it comes to AAs.
From what I've observed, the odds are that Spanish-language fluency will probably NOT be of much meaningful benefit for most AAs in terms of getting hired in the US.
Here's why: These bilingual job requirements are NOT motivated by a desire to facilitate communication. Instead, the REAL purpose of bilingual job requirements is to create an ethnic employment monopoly for Latinos in this country.
Another reader confirmed my Chicago-based observations about this when she described how job ads in Miami actually say: "NATIVE SPEAKERS ONLY." This practice shows that the ultimate goal is NOT about communication, it's about reserving certain jobs for Latinos ONLY.
Too often, AAs naively take things at face value. As a result, we fall for the okey-doke.
Other people have traditionally lied to AAs. They tell us that if we just had certain (ever-changing and ever-shifting) qualifications, then we would be hired. In many of these cases, it's not about credentials. It's about employment discrimination. Let's be real about this.
This "if you just learn Spanish then you'll be okay" hype is pure bull****. It's just another lie in a long series of lies that we've been told as a cover story for employment discrimination.
Latino racists don't care if an AA is fluent in Spanish. Whenever they can get away with it, Latino gatekeepers will only hire NATIVE SPEAKERS (i.e., other Latinos). Miami is a good example of that. And a sneak preview of the employment practices that Latinos will enforce once they get in power in other areas of the US.
If they aren't already reserving jobs for "native Spanish speakers only" in a particular area, it's because they aren't powerful enough to get away with it. YET.
So by all means, anybody who's interested should learn Spanish! [I'm studying Spanish.] Just don't have the delusion that being fluent in Spanish will protect you from employment discrimination from Latino gatekeepers.
Peace, blessings and solidarity.

Oh I know all about the reverse of BW and luxury vehicles all too well. My mom purchased a new SUV just before the 2000 election and she got those dirty looks and acts of aggression too. The first time she had it serviced for routine maintenance at the same dealership she purchased her vehicle from, she hadn't heard anything from the dealership for two days until she drove up there and found out that the mechanics took off her hood and drained her battery when all the car needed was routine maintenance for what was essentially still a new vehicle. The entire chain of command dismissed her until she threatened legal action and then and only then did they act right. Now she interested in nothing more than a mid-sized car, and surprisingly (not!), she has no trouble now from mechanics when getting her car serviced.
Fast forward to a few years ago where my mother's friend had a much more frightening incident when she had her SUV serviced at a local auto shop. The mechanics intentionally damaged her vehicle and when she threatened legal action, the owner sicked his dogs on her! Two vicious animals on an elderly black woman!
Both of those incidents made me very leery of auto mechanics (both white and black males, my mom has had problems with black male auto mechanics too) and prompted me to learn basic to intermediate auto care, so now I can clean a battery, flush a radiator, and change oil, spark plugs, air filters, and even brake pads.
I hated seeing my mom go through that over basic care maintenance with racist/sexist auto mechanics and a husband who refused to service her car when he had all the skills to do so. Not to mention it saves a ton of money!
Hi Khadjia!
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the years of wisdom you have poured into many women here on this page. We appreciate your work, and hope to be a similar light to Black women everywhere.
Grace and Peace,
Asia
KimP,

OMG! {nauseated}
Simone56/Asia,
You're welcome! Thanks so much for your kind words about my blog; I truly appreciate it.
And let me also thank YOU for the outstanding work you're doing on your YouTube channel and Facebook page. Your work has been a blessing for many, many BW--including me. {smile}
I think we're in a position to put our best foot forward right now and to stay on Trump's "good" side since black women were not specifically mentioned in a negative light the way certain other groups were.
Don't be out marching, referring to Trump not being "your" President, etc.
Note how the Silicon Valley folks and politicians used similar language of "working" with Trump. They may not feel that way personally, but they're going to CYA.
Who knows? Omarosa may prove to be an ally - or at least neutral for black women and not actively engaged in tearing us down and it could be useful.
It's been taxing, but even the professional "activists" are laying low right now.
And I also wanted to say hello to everyone! As long as we're here we can thrive.
Thank you for your wisdom, your commentary through all of this is life-saving for those who can hear it.
I was not surprised by the election. That said, in addition to the advice already given, BW should be vigilant about protecting their mental and emotional health.
One reason is because a healthy mindset provides the resiliency to better adapt to making quick changes.
Also because both parties have adopted an "us vs. them" mentality, and are willing to be more public about their loyalties or lack of. A solid emotional foundation gives us a better basis to cut unnecessary ties, and start negotiating where we invest ourselves.
This includes our digital lives. I think we as BW need to be calculated and discreet with what we share about ourselves online, because the ability to track back is getting greater every day.
We need to start seeing empty promises and "alliances" for what they are, and start negotiating the investment of emotional, physical, social and financial resources on a cost-benefit basis. We need to take a personal austerity measures for those in our lives: lower your spending on them, and increase the tax you ask from them.
I am very inspired by the strategies already mentioned here!
Tasha,
Thanks so much for your kind words about my book and blogs; I truly appreciate it!
Hi Khadija and everyone!
Like everyone else, I wasn't surprised by this election. For my own self reasons, I supported Hilary but I knew Trump had a good chance. Trump doesn't scare me really now that I've had time to process the election, Pence is the scary one, to be honest. However, it's about to get real like you have predicted since 2008 and I've been working on my own plans. On my own facebook profile, I've made sure since 2014 to post that I can't stand/have no affliation with BLM.
I'm pretty sure that those Blacks who dissent and/or act like business as usual will find themselves in those new private prisons pretty quickly. I'm also convinced that the upcoming waves of racial/ethnic violence will convince many BP and other unwanted non-whites to attempt to move away from where they are. There will be new subdivisions built, there is too much money in the construction business. But instead of putting walls around the ghettos in the cities that won't be gentrified, many BP will be lured to move into isolated subdivisions and will be virtually walled off. You've probably said that before, Khadija.
This is the time to be neutral. Who knows, stealthy and/or at least not completely stupid BW may get a break in the NWO that is going to negatively affect BM and others badly.
Hi KM,
{excited waving}
You said, "I'm also convinced that the upcoming waves of racial/ethnic violence will convince many BP and other unwanted non-whites to attempt to move away from where they are. There will be new subdivisions built, there is too much money in the construction business. Yep, this has come up during earlier conversations years ago here. As I had noted in a couple of comments to earlier posts:
I believe with all this gentrification, the US is moving toward the French model of choosing where the slums will be. French slums (and the poor immigrants and descendants of immigrants who live there) are in the suburbs. That's why the North African/immigrant riots that took place in 2005 were in the suburbs of France. The French are determined to keep their historical cities (especially "jewel in the crown" Paris) NICE. It would appear that Western Europeans are NOT into the US model of allowing undesirables to totally overrun their major cities. And, like I said above, the American elites have apparently decided to change to the French model.
Here's what I noticed has gradually happened in the Chicago area: They demolished many of the hellhole, all-Black housing projects. They steered the former inhabitants (with Section 8 vouchers in hand) into previously stable African-American working class and middle class neighborhoods; thereby destroying them.
They also encouraged the former housing project residents to move into some poor Southern suburbs. Well, the trick to that is that these south suburbs are like "Gilligan's Island" in terms of isolation. The CTA doesn't run all the way out to these places. And the local mass transportation in these places have VERY limited schedules.
So these tranplants are more or less marooned compared to the public transportation mobility available in the city! I don't think that was an accident.
I saw this comment under a YouTube video about Fox News' election coverage (not surprisingly, many of these die-hard Trump supporters have now even turned on Faux News media, ah well).
It's a good thing our contempt is just words and silently collecting firearms and ammo.
We don't try to steal political signs, block traffic, kill cops, deface property or attack people for their opinions.
That's something Democrats do.
When dumb Black folks keep supporting all these attempts to severely limit their ability to obtain legal firearms, knowing full well that the criminals amongst them have weapons (& will use them at the drop of a hat), and others (read white folks), are pretty much stockpiling guns on the down low; when SHTF, which it will, and there is no police to come to your aid, you better hope that there is someone around you who would be willing to expend their own bullets (and is properly trained to so), in order to keep you safe. Even if you are fundamentally opposed to guns, there is no harm in getting a license and adequate training in how to use one just in case.
Stop worrying yourself about bm felons who are unable to legally own firearms. In all likelihood, they are the ones that you will need to protect yourself from, even the self-proclaimed 'reformed' crims. Besides, bm, as a collective, have shown themselves incapable and unwilling to protect BW & children, and to provide a safe haven for them, like all other groups of men do, so it is best to leave them to their devices and let them sort out whatever Trump-related mess they may find themselves in.
As has been mentioned by others, I can really see this whole BLM palaver getting extra messy under this new administration. And bear in mind that the police now know that they have a president who would fully support them coming down hard on these types of protesters (& for the most part, I don't completely disagree with that approach). So if you saw how willing they were to shoot first, and worry about the consequences later under pres Obama, how much more do you think they will do with Trump in charge. I really hope more & more BW wake the heck up and open their eyes, because their actions could make things rather difficult for other BW who don't engage in any of that foolishness.
"I believe with all this gentrification, the US is moving toward the French model of choosing where the slums will be. ..............The CTA doesn't run all the way out to these places. And the local mass transportation in these places have VERY limited schedules."
The reverse happened in the UK, particularly England. The migrants, and children of migrants are heavily concentrated in the larger cities, along with the poor whites, while the smaller towns, villages, etc, are populated by the middle-class whites. Even in the cities, the parts of it with green fields, new faster transport links etc, are all in or linked to the wealthier areas. On the other hand, the more densely populated urban areas rarely get any new investment. One perfect example was the recent London 2012 Olympics. They built the stadium in a part of the city where there was greater deprivation, higher unemployment, etc. They didn't want to cause disruption to any of the 'important', well-to-do people. The local residents were promised that this would bring jobs to the area and start a re-generation of the place, with new businesses moving there. When the games were over and the athletes left, so did everyone else. Now, they are left with this behemoth of an arena that was rarely ever used, so a soccer team was able to get it on the cheap, and the poorer, significantly ethnic minority residents of the area are still left with nothing.
This is part of the reason why I will never live in a predominantly minority (particularly black) neighbourhood. You are always left to the mercy of whatever local authority is making decisions, and they rarely ever have your interests at heart. The advantage of living where yt folks live, is that you are able to benefit from whatever facilities, benefits etc, that they have put in place in that city, even while they use tax and other means to deprive others of these same things.
Part 1
tertiaryanna,
You're welcome!
JaliliMaster,
You're spot on! I'm on several prepper and prepper-supply store email lists. It's no surprise that preppers tend to be right-wing Trump supporters. Guurl, them folks have been stockpiling weapons and ammo in anticipation of the election.
What I *did* find surprising (although, looking back, I should've known better) was that these Trump supporters are STILL not placated---not even in the wake of their victory. What I found disturbing is that it looks to me like they're laying the emotional groundwork for denying any responsibility for whatever disastrous results they've created by electing Trump. Cont'd.
Part 2
Here's part of a promotional email I got from one prepper supply store (emphasis in bold by me):
"Holy smokes. He did it!
The people have spoken. The Clinton political machine has been kicked to the curb, and come January, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as President of the United States.
And through it all, we stuck to our guns. When those smug stuffed shirts in the media and in Washington said he had no chance to win, everyone who supported him stuck together and said, “Not this time.” They claimed Trump wasn’t a “serious” candidate, but we knew all along…
He was as serious as a heart attack.
Like I said in my confession to you yesterday, the main reason I voted for him is that I REFUSE to surrender what is left of my country to the Clintons and their cronies who “paid to play.” I believe this country is worth fighting for.
And apparently millions of Americans agree with us.
I am so proud to be an American today… to see some hope that everyday, hardworking people can still make their voices heard. And I want to thank every one of you who got out there and voted, maybe for the first time in a while, because you finally found a candidate to believe in.
YOU made the difference. We all know Trump’s not perfect, but he was willing to say what no one else would. The system is broken, and it’s time to take our country back.
If you’ve been watching TV or listening to the radio at all, there’s a lot of fighting and finger pointing going on, but there’s one thing everyone can agree on.
NO ONE knows what’s going to happen now.
And while we’re certainly in for major change, at this point, I’m honestly still not sure what exactly that means or what this new world will look like.
With the result in the balance, I could hardly sleep last night. So I came into the office early today…
And I was shocked to discover our phones have been RINGING OFF THE HOOK all night long with folks trying to order more survival food.
If the news is any indication, we’re in for a heck of a ride. So this is what we did…
We had an “all-hands on-deck” meeting and we decided to DO SOMETHING.
Because at [Prepper Store], we champion freedom and self-reliance. We help you prepare for anything that might be headed our way. And believe me, when the establishment gets a thumb in the eye like they did last night, they WON’T take it lying down.
. . . When you watch [our] video… You’ll see that this special offer is our way of saying…“We’re in uncharted territory, but we’re in it together.”
HI, FAITH!
IT'S NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU!!!
@ Khadija and Jalilimaster,
Both your comments remind me of how foolish so many black folk can be. Complaining and protesting about one issue or the other, talking about fighting white hegemony and white male patriarchy, some going as far as talking about 'fighting the upcoming race war', all the while ignoring the glaring fact that these groups that these blacks believe 'hate' them are busy actually gearing up for these scenarios while mindless black idiots are protesting.
I would urge any bw, especially those who are not in a position to leave whatever black-enclave you may find yourself residing in, to get a gun licence, go for shooting practice at a gun range and get a gun. If ish hits the fan, it is most likely some other black person that will pose an immediate danger to you before any of these white folks. I see these 'not my president' protests seem to be spreading. I just hope they don't turn into full scale violent riots. I saw video clips of people burning the American flag with their faces exposed in full view of the camera. Those people (the ones identifiable in the videos) do not know what they have done to themselves. Also, those of you who have kids in high school, please advise them to keep away from these 'walk-outs' in protest of the elections.
A word on prepping... One must crawl before they can walk. Take baby steps but please start walking.
Target has Del Monte canned vegetables on sale next week for 59 cents per can. If your cabinets are low, use five or ten dollars to take advantage of this sale.
This morning's email from one of several prepper stores (emphasis by me in bold to highlight specific parts of these Trump supporters' world view--the preppers stores wouldn't say these sorts of things in their ad copy unless they believed their audience could relate to them):
It’s sunk in now. And the Trump haters… let’s just say they ain’t happy.
Protesters have taken to the streets – and it’s not just in “Liberal Land” hotspots like California, Philadelphia and Portland – but across the Midwest too.
These violent anti-democracy protesters and looters are scary.
Look, our voice was finally heard on Tuesday.
Change is coming.
Let’s hope it’s change for the better.
Still, even if Trump took office tomorrow, real change doesn’t happen overnight. But a crisis… THAT can happen in an instant. And the seeds of it are already planted and beginning to sprout.
Especially with a country divided and ready to spark like dry tinder.
Obama may be almost gone, but the millions he let suckle off the government are here to stay.
And if you think “bad hombres” at home and around the world won’t hesitate to try to take advantage of post-election chaos... think again.
That means things could get ugly, and fast.
What happens next is anyone’s guess, but you can bet it will be bad.
Look, we sent a message to the elites and the do-nothing government this week.
But if they swing back, and we Americans get knocked down, we’ve shown we’ll get up.
We’ll be ready. And prepared.
If you’re wondering “What do I do now?” to prepare for an even more uncertain future, I’ve got some good news…
From now until MIDNIGHT Sunday November 13, 2016, I’m cutting the price of our #1 bestseller [Prepper Store] 3-Month Kit by $100.00 to our lowest price ever. And I’ll also toss in FREE Shipping, 5,340+ heirloom super-survival seeds (Non-GMO, plant & harvest forever), an 11-in-1 survival tool and 4 hard copy survival reports. Felicia sent in the following comment by email:
The Chickens have come home to roost. Beyonce and Jay Z ( and those like them ) anti-police rhetoric and performances, BLM hypocrites saying and doing nothing about the continued blood baths in Chicago and inner cities across America, radical Islamic terrorism ( the Pulse nightclub slayings in Orlando, not to mention what’s been going on in Europe lately with the migration plus the numerous terrorist attacks that have happened in various countries ), black on white interracial crime that the mainstream media fails to cover yet IS being fully covered ( with video ) and discussed online, generational “ useless eaters “ on welfare rolls, this radical INSANE transgenderism bullsh*t ( along with the bathroom bills that concerned parents are pushing back against) and Obama and Michelle’s endorsement of it, numerous riots viewed by MILLIONS in Ferguson, Baltimore, San Jose CA, Chicago, the rise in Heroin drug abuse and death amongst white people in New Hampshire ( and white peoples lower life expectancy ) and across the country, high unemployment in the heartland and rustbelt, illegal immigration from Latin American countries ( then viewing some Mexicans burning American flags at these protests/riots for millions to see ), and so on and so on… The list could go on forever.
White people are like Elephants. THEY DON’T FORGET.
OF COURSE TRUMP WOULD WIN. ANYONE looking at all of these clear indicators would have no other choice than to believe that Trump would be a shoe in. And he was. Because the majority of white Americans ( and some non white Americans too ) have had enough. And they’re coming out and saying it now.
The majority were not going to broadcast ( especially if they resided in blue states ) this on front street for fear of reprisals. Instead most went silent and swore they’d act in the ballot box and they did.
SMART BW are not going to have ANYTHING to do with any “ revolutionary “ NOTHING. They’re going to stay FAR away from protests and anyone and anything having to do with protests.
They’re going to do whatever they deem necessary to keep THEMSELVES ( and any minor children if they have them ) safe from harm. Because SELF preservation is the FIRST law of nature. You go against nature ( like sadly MOST African-American women have been doing for generations ) and you have NIGHTMARE consequences.
BW have been warned by me, YOU, Evia, Halima, Faith, Gina, Neecy, Dee Dee and so on ( I’ve lost track of everyone who’s been ringing the alarm bell on behalf of BW out of love ) for I believe 10 year now. We told them to focus on QUALITY NOT COLOR when it comes to mates. When it comes to good protective husbands for future vulnerable children. We told them to prepare ( education wise, self-defense wise, business wise, etc… ) for the coming Apocalypse. And here we are. I’m not saying it’s the end of the world because it’s not. BUT “ sh*t got real “ as they say.
We’ve led BW to water, now it’s up to them to drink.
I plead with BW to NOT GET INVOLVED with the demonstrations. When Donald Trump is sworn in January 20, 2017 PLAY TIME IS OVER.
Ladies,
Something else occurs to me: It might be a good idea to get your passport applications sent in as soon as possible. Meaning, at least 1 month *before* Trump is inaugurated.
It's safe to assume that LOTS of the current federal rules and regulations are going to be changed once he gets in office.
It's also safe to assume that those changes will tilt toward imposing more controls over not just the population flows coming into the U.S., but ALSO the population flows going out of and within the U.S.
@Khadija,
I agree about passports. Everyone has two months and five days before January 20, 2017 to get their houses in order. I will be doing the same as well. If you are an unmarried BW, you need to get an IUD now. When public order decays as fast as it looks like it will, that IUD will be the best chance not to get stuck with a child from rape or other suboptimal situations.
I truly believe that despite these nationalistic movements, the upcoming debt crash and depressions aren't going to decrease globalization. Not just as a Christian who've read Revelations but as someone who pays attention to global news and global trends, I believe that the world is going to end up in a one world government after the fast approaching chaos. Women who apply what BWE has advocated for nearly a decade will be fine.
Any newbies reading Khadija's blogs, Evia, Faith, etc, you need to read as much as you can and implement what you can NOW before it becomes way too late.
@Karen, @Khadjia, and @WanderLustchick
Thank you guys for your replies and advice, I truly appreciate it. I took two classes in mandarin Chinese but I've already forgotten a good amount so I really need to brush up on it too become decent in the language. We have language tutors I will be utilizing before I graduate. My specialty is avian studies specifically Chinese so I'm knowledgeable about Chinese politics, geography, and policy matters. I'm not truly sure where I want to go from here, but I was thinking of applying for becoming an English teacher in Taiwan or Mainland China.
Unfortunately my networking skills are not the best however I have yet to graduate so I will work on this immensely with my ext set of classes come Spring. I am apart of a student organization that focuses on traveling and cultural exchanges so I do have a decent network built from there. I also bought a few books from the thrift store that revolve around networking that I will be reading this weekend.
Since I'm a book fiend I will check out the book Sovereign Individual at my university library come Monday.
Sherriff David Clarke, the black republican Trump supporter who has come out so strongly against BLM, is a very possible candidate for Homeland Security secretary. Putting him in that position will allow Trump to go hard on BLM and blackistan crime in general without the automatic accusations of racism. He's made his pro tough policing/anti BLM stance clear in many media interviews.

@formavitae
Yes, Mam I really enjoyed my 6 years abroad. I loved China and China loved me back. I liked Sweden too, but with the high cost of living and dismantling of the free tuition,it was time to move on. Sweden does not offer free tuition anymore for international students. Germany, now offers free tuition to anyone who wants to get a degree.
@Colleen I took a Chinese class too. I am tutoring in Chinese because I don't want to forget what I have learned in China. Yes, go to Taiwan or China and teach ESL. You will really love it. Go on Facebook and connect with Black women in China or South Korea. Black Teachers Abroad is another group you could connect with too. Since you are younger that I ,you could also qualify for scholarships to study abroad.
The debate about Spanish is interesting ,because I think Spanish is a money language. There is a young black woman ,Amber Gonzalez, on youtube who tutors in Spanish and Portuguese. She has been a Spanish translator and now a flight attendant. Spanish is still important. I tell my Mexican and Latino acquaintances to study Chinese. Necesitas estudiar chino!LOL
Felicia,
I VOTED FOR TRUMP. He was "the right choice" FOR ME.
I'm HOPING I don't regret it. But, Hillary was NEVER going to lead this country in a direction I desired. Your email covered many of the issues that impacted me. But, I "WAS DONE" with tolerating the liberal movements, once they started this assault on women/girl-only spaces. I never shared my thoughts before, because I didn't want to influence anyone else's opinion. But, now, I'm coming out and saying, I'M one of those BW who "pulled the lever" for Trump. Yes. I AM "AMERICA FIRST", Baby!
Khadija,
THANK you, for mentioning passports. I wanted to apply for myself and my parents so I could take them abroad. IT IS a good idea to get moving on those things NOW rather than LATER. I'll have to investigate that this coming week.
KM,
YES. I was considering the movement towards a "one world government", ALSO. I'm glad Trump won, because it's one less U.S. submission to that concept. Hillary and Barack couldn't seem to "run toward it" FAST enough. I believe that, inevitably, it will come to pass (if the Bible is true), but NOT TODAY--and not with MY vote!
Colleen,
You are the first person I have ever heard of (rather than met) pursuing that field. That's REALLY COOL. It would be very interesting to learn about that path. I'm actually going to google "avian studies" just to get more of a clue what the field is about. Lol. :)
sistrunkqueen,
I'M GLAD to hear you really enjoyed your experiences! I LOVE to hear of BW pursuing new adventures and trying new things SUCCESSFULLY. I'm looking forward to reading more stories of the adventures younger AA women take as they "spread out" into the world. I'm a "U.S. Lover" and don't really see myself leaving outside of vacations (unless things get REALLY terrible). But, I LOVE to see AA girls "owning the world". You're SO BEAUTIFUL, and INDUSTRIOUS, and SMART! Men around the globe WILL CERTAINLY BE ATTRACTED to you, and THE WORLD "WILL BE YOUR OYSTER"!
I learned alot from reading this blog post and comments. As of right now, I am in college and studying to be a nurse. Though I am disgusted by Trump's victory, I will go on with my life. I am in the process of getting a job and trying to keep my grades afloat. If I do get a job, I will save up money to get a passport and save up to leave this country after I complete my studies. I would love to leave this country but I don't let have the resources to do so. America is on it's way out but I can still find ways to survive and thrive in the global world by learning skills to navigate the world.
Learning another language is probably the best way to learn how to navigate the global world and leave the Black collective behind. When one knows another language, he or she can be able to communicate with others, who live in other countries. It also opens that person up to other cultures and way of thinking. And I believe that it is best for Black women to explore other topics of interest and live their lives for themselves.
@Colleen
I am in college as well. It is great to see another young, Black woman learning another language and trying to navigate the global world around them. I can relate with you when you say that your networking skills aren't so great. Mine aren't either. But it is good that you are apart of an organization though.
It is best to learn how to survive a Trump presidency either if one plans on leaving the country eventually like I do. Breuekelen Bleu advised her followers and other Black women to find ways to survive despite the election results. After all, we only have one life to live.
S.B.,
I am, PERSONALLY, looking forward to a "crack down" on lawbreakers--particularly VIOLENT ONES. The AA community (PARTICULARLY) and the country (in general) have suffered ENOUGH.
I AM NOT a criminal "apologist".
Ladies,
FYI--I'm going to close the comments to this post at midnight tonight (central time).
Until midnight tonight, please feel free to keep commenting. I'm very pleased with the helpful feedback and information that's been given during this conversation! THANK YOU--you've helped a lot of BW in the silent audience! {smile}
Thank you for the link - Black Teachers Abroad! I'm really excited about the possibility of going abroad to teach ESL.
Thank you, international relations is a broad field. I'm sorry for the misspelling, it's Asian studies not Avian studies. :P My minor is Asian studies geared towards China.
Hi, yes I agree finding like minded Black women especially during the college years is wonderful. I'm sorry if you mentioned it earlier but what language are you learning?
I follow Breuklen Bleu on YouTube as well. I'm all about learning to thrive no matter the situation or environment.
@Khadjia Until now I did not have the opportunity to comment on your blog and formally thank you for all your valuable information, effort, and time. I reread your past posts from tine ti time and purchased your Ebook as well.
There is so much I have learned and this election has really cemented your wise words. It's interesting both you Khadjia and Naom Chomsky were adamant about how Trump would win this election. Chomsky furthered his point by saying how the U.S. is lucky to have not really have had a charismatic leader for President because those are the dangerous types.
Oh. THAT'S cool. :) I had a friend who moved to Japan for a few years and had a WONDERFUL experience! She became fluent in the language also.
Keep broadening your horizons!
Well... I have a policy of not discussing politics at work. Against my better judgment, I told a young WW (who "doesn't care about politcs") that I voted for Trump and regret voting for Obama.
Her disposition towards me changed. She hasn't even really been giving me eye contact, and we've always been friendly.
Fact of the matter is that Im a very kind, caring, and respectful person, which NOT ALL people are responsive to. But, generally speaking, my patients LOVE me, and they FREQUENTLY let me know how they appreciate the respect I show them and the care I provide.
What AA women/girls.should realize.is.that NO MATTER HOW you vote, live your life, etc., there is ALWAYS someone who is going to dissaprove of you. Had I voted for Clinton, I'd be accused of supporting a "welfare state".
A BW can NEVER "WIN", with these "others". So, figure out who YOU are, and BE TRUE TO YOURSELF.
Khadijah I know this may sound odd but would you think it would be helpful to black women if BWE became an organization that paid dues and provided services and scholarships specifically for black women. Many of us are not financially well off I know but would something like this be beneficial for sovereign black women and their daughters?
Colleen,
You're welcome! Thank you for your kind words about my blog and book; I truly appreciate it.
Anonymous,
You said, "Khadijah I know this may sound odd but would you think it would be helpful to black women if BWE became an organization that paid dues and provided services and scholarships specifically for black women. I believe these are extremely dangerous times now**--it's not a good time to start any new organization called "Black" anything (or that has "Black" anywhere in its title). "Black" = target in the Trump era. Adding the word "Black" to one's organizational title = painting a bullseye on that organization that invites hostile scrutiny from local and federal law enforcement, and conservative White media.
I think a more circumspect way of handling such interests (for those who are interested in pursuing that kind of project) would be to form or incorporate a new sorority/Greek letter organization. A new sorority and/or Greek letter organization that happens adhere to BWE principles or whatever principles the participants wish to follow. [From your use of the phrase "sovereign BW," it sounds like you've been listening to Breukelen Bleu's videos. There's a LOT of overlap between BWE principles and the "sovereign BW" principles that Breukelen Bleu advocates, but they're not identical.]
[**I'm going to touch on this angle in a new post that I'll publish tonight shortly after midnight.]
Hello Khadija and fellow commenters,
I'd like to thank you so much for your continued insightful blog posts, and for opening the comments here in particular. While I don't feel I have anything to add to the already great ideas discussed, I do feel like I'm already moving towards a much more productive mindset. I feel more hopeful and empowered. These are extremely important, life-saving discussions for Black women to be having right now, and I'm grateful for the space you provided to do so. Thanks again.
Aisha,
You're welcome!
And thanks so much for your kind words; I truly appreciate it. I'm always delighted to hear that the blog posts and discussions have helped BW. It's a fair exchange because I've learned so much from the commenters. {smile}
