A Reality Check from Munir Muhammad

From The Black Messiah by Rev. Albert B. Cleage Jr. (founder of The Shrine of the Black Madonna Pan-African Orthodox Christian Church):

"Oppression does not destroy a people. It is the acceptance of oppression that destroys." pg. 20.

"People who are constantly waiting for divine intervention find it difficult to develop and keep leadership because leadership depends upon people who are expecting to do something for themselves. Leadership is created by people who are demanding and ready to struggle for certain things. But what role is there for leadership when a people are waiting for God to break into history? Leadership is reduced to mythical incantations, magic dances, and other rituals designed to induce God to do more quickly that which He has already decided to do." pg. 172 (emphasis added).

{Insert chants of "Yes, we can!"}

"You can't lead a people who are sitting around waiting for Jesus to come back on clouds of glory. All you can do is prepare a landing field for him." pg. 173.

Yes, I can see that the landing field for the false messiah is being prepared, and will be ready for January 2009. Those who worship the Obama-ssiah are preparing for their false Jubilee. They are preparing to live, "work," and "struggle" vicariously through this one politician who has promised them NOTHING. They are already fast asleep, enjoying their dream. Actually, it's a waking hallucination. But, I digress . . .

There are others who really should know better who are also dozing off. I almost wonder if these individuals have been drugged.

The Coalition for the Remembrance of Elijah Muhammad (CROE) was formed in 1987 in Chicago. Several long-time followers of Elijah Muhammad's teachings were dismayed by the efforts made to write Mr. Muhammad out of Black history. They were also displeased by the frequent efforts to elevate Mr. Muhammad's students (such as Malcolm X and Min. Farrakhan) over the teacher. There are people who want to use parts of Elijah Muhammad's program without giving him proper credit. There are also people who want to tell lies about Elijah Muhammad. To combat all of this, CROE maintains an extensive archive of audio and video recordings of Elijah Muhammad's speeches, as well as other materials. They also host a cable-access program called Muhammad and Friends.

Over the years, many prominent Chicago-area Black politicians have been guests on Muhammad and Friends. Even the now Obama-ssiah has appeared on this show in the past!

As vehemently as I disagree with the theology put forth by the members of CROE, they are steadfast in saying many things that I believe are both true and necessary. One of the co-founders of CROE, Munir Muhammad, makes some extremely important points in this clip:

I think some, many, do await this messiah. But I think there are those who love the historic moment-ness of it all and what it can do image-wise for the AA world.

Despite Obama though, many calendars show a time of change is approaching. The Mayan calendar for example (for 2012). Does the Koran say something about these times?

Welcome, Miriam!

I don't know about the calendar situation. But I DO know that AAs have already settled back into our traditional political coma, "secure" in the knowledge that our false messiah is about to land.

I was extremely disgusted to read an example of this is in a news story about the current campaign for a congressional seat in New Orleans. There is a Republican Vietnamese-American running against incumbent Congressman William "Cool Cash" Jefferson.

Several Black voters were quoted as saying that they were going to sit out this election because, as one man put it, "I got what I wanted [with Obama's election." So, these fools are willing to risk AAs losing yet ANOTHER political position to non-Blacks.

This is part of what I tried to explain in Part 2 of Charity Begins at Home: the fact that the bulk of these other so-called people of color's political advances are coming at the expense of the AA community!

I believe that AAs' mass complacency & willingness to live vicariously through the Obama family will drive the final nails into our political coffin! We'll look up one day and have a "Black" president, and NOTHING ELSE!

Peace, blessings and solidarity.

*UPDATE* Yep. As I feared, Black folks in New Orleans sat out the election & allowed the 1st Vietnamese-American in Congress to get elected at the expense of Black representation of a majority-Black district.

"Anh 'Joseph' Cao, 41, won a predominantly Black and heavily Democratic district that covers most of New Orleans." Mr. Cao is a Republican.

"Turnout appeared light in the district, where two-thirds of voters are Democrats and 11% are Republicans. More than 60% are Black."

Of course, I have NO interest in seeing the corrupt incumbent remain in office. But we should have rallied around a competent AA candidate to replace him. Instead, we sat at home because as the man quoted in the article I mentioned above said, "We got what we wanted." We have our 1st Black president figure head.

This is just the earliest of many political losses AAs will suffer due to our mass choice to live vicariously through the Obama-ssiah & his wife. There will be many more losses. As I said, we will look up one day & belatedly realize that we have a "Black" president & nothing else.

Peace, blessings, and solidarity.

Salaam Khadija,

Thank you for sharing this clip with us. I'm planning on checking out the CROE website. Interesting. I know this sounds silly to say but I have RARELY seen a Muslim man in my venue
( with the exception of my husband) dressed in a suit.

I personally believe that true white supremacist know that the NOI is probably one of the or perhaps was one of the greatest organizations for black people in all of North America.

My deen is on the rocks... but I must say that the NOI makes the little bit of the deen I have left in me proud. I don't see anything wrong with taking pride in who you are, and using that uplift others for a common good.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I hope you can share more like this in the future. Thanks again.

Welcome Sister Seeking/Miriam!

As far as I'm concerned, if your "deen is on the rocks," it's because of your exposure to the madness of "orthodox" Sunni Muslim Black folks.

[Audience note: I am an "orthodox" Sunni Muslim. I have never been a member of the Nation of Islam. So my critique of (and disgust with) Sunni Black Muslims is coming from inside this category, not outside.]

As vehemently as I disagree with what I believe are the false religious teachings of the NOI (such as preaching that God Almightly "appeared in the person of Master W. Fard Muhammad, July 1930"), I have to give credit where credit is due:

I have to give credit for the NOI's good works within Black residential areas. Whereas, we Sunni Black Muslims have next to none.

I have to give credit for the ethnic self-respect that is taught within the NOI. Whereas, we Sunni Black Muslims generally have next to none. In fact, there's at least one Sunni Black Muslim imam preaching that Arabs are a superior race.

I have to give credit to the NOI's economic teaching's ability to lift their followers out of poverty. Whereas, we Sunni Black Muslims often celebrate poverty due to laziness under the guise of being religious students.

I have to give credit to the NOI's proven ability to reform criminals. Whereas, we Sunni Black Muslims tend to excuse & ignore criminality among our group.

Although recent circumstances might force us to chill on that for a minute. [Several Sunni Black Muslim men (in the Philly area) with luxuriant beards committed an armed robbery & killed a cop while wearing women's veils.]

I have to give credit to the NOI's demonstrated emphasis on STABLE, monogomous marriages. Whereas, we Sunni Black Muslims have within our group Negroes who have literally been married 20-30 times; with some "marriages" lasting just a few days. Some Sunni Muslim Blacks also practice the insanity of polygamy.

If only there was a Black Muslim group that had the ethnic self-respect & self-discipline of the NOI AND legitimate Islamic beliefs.

Unfortunately, Min. Farrakhan and his version of the NOI have caught the "Obama-ssiah" delusion along with the majority of our people. I have to give credit where it is due to the founders of CROE (such as Munir Muhammad) for not losing sight of reality.

Peace, blessings and solidarity.
